Intelligence and Operations Mentoring
ESPA provides intelligence specialists to protected areas to assist in their development of intelligence-led operations, and overall site security. We have a wide pool of specialists in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) and analysis from which our clients can draw to support their operations and internal capacity improvement.
ESPA has in-house intelligence staff that provide technical and practical support to intelligence mentors on the ground, and runs regular internal training sessions to ensure our technical knowledge is up-to-date in a fast-changing world.
We bring together the disparate parts of a very complicated puzzle that includes the daily operations of Rangers, the animals they protect, the illegal wildlife trade and the lives of people who live in and around conservation areas.
Rather than the neat process often depicted in diagrams showing the intelligence cycle, our activities are interrelated and overlapping. We need to build a detailed intelligence capacity, using people and technology across a full spectrum of conservation activities.
We are constantly growing this sector of our work and as new technologies enable greater communication and our contact base grows through operations, we bring order and structure to wildlife crime intelligence operations.
