Anti-Poaching
Some protected areas have efficient anti-poaching units (APUs) and others are supported and protected by local law authorities, customs officials and even armed forces, but many do not. That’s where we help.
Even those that are effective face a rapidly increasing criminal threat from poachers sanctioned by organised crime cartels decimating wildlife for profit.
More than 1,000 wildlife rangers have been killed doing their duty over the past decade. In remote areas, wildlife crime undermines the sustainable development of the local communities, especially in underdeveloped regions through lawlessness and intimidation.
APUs in some countries are unwilling to deploy and protect vulnerable wildlife due to the high risk of death they face daily at the hands of poachers.
The Endangered Species Protection Agency was established to help safeguard these crucial custodians of the world’s endangered wildlife, by educating and training rangers, improving their personal safety and increasing their effectiveness in the field.
